Arucas, 30 November 2025.— The TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Pico de las Nieves 2025 opened the Gran Canaria Bike Week this Sunday with a top-level showcase, led by the presence of Tadej Pogačar, one of the most decorated cyclists in the international peloton. He was joined by other standout figures such as Magdeleine Vallieres, Ricardo Ten, Jasper Philipsen and Elisa Balsamo.
At 9:00 a.m., the professional cyclists signaled the official start for the more than 700 registered participants from the Plaza de la Constitución in Arucas. At 9:30 a.m., the professional group began their own start, accompanying the peloton and adding unprecedented value to the sporting experience.
During the ascent toward Pico de las Nieves, the international cyclists taking part in the event —including Jonas Rickaert, Lorenzo Rota, Max van der Meulen, Pavel Sivakov, Urko Vidal, Zak Erzen, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Domen Novak, Eñaut Urkaregui, Jakob Omrzel, Jaimar Etxeberria, Vegard Stake Laengen, Vlad Van Mechelen, Gloria Van Mechelen, Urška Žigart and Laura Lizette Sander— enjoyed a route that perfectly combines challenge and beauty.
As the route progressed, the landscape shifted from coastal areas to deep ravines and high-mountain pine forests, offering a complete view of Gran Canaria’s diversity. The sustained ramps, winding asphalt and natural changes in rhythm allowed cyclists to experience first-hand why this climb is one of the most respected in the archipelago.
The main event once again takes on Pico de las Nieves
With a legendary course featuring 125 kilometers and 3,324 meters of elevation gain, the TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Pico de las Nieves once again proved why it is considered one of the greatest cycling challenges in the Canary Islands. Throughout the ascent, participants faced two demanding timed sections, taking on terrain as tough as it is stunning, where endurance, strategy and the beauty of the landscape all played leading roles.
Blas Rivero crossed the line first with a time of 2:13:52, followed by Daniel Kierok (2:14:14) and Piero Lorenzini (2:15:31). In the women’s category, Sandra Renschke (2:55:49) took the win, with Pia Bedene (2:56:12) in second place and Anna Gabriela Myria Ternes (2:57:47) finishing third.
Artenara, the big new addition: a shorter but equally demanding option
The 2025 edition premiered the Artenara category, a shorter alternative to the Gran Fondo but just as challenging for those seeking an intense test. This route shared its first timed section with the main event and concluded in the iconic Plaza de Artenara.
In this category, the winners were: in the women’s field, Ilaria Ianni (2:13:37), followed by Luz Estela Díaz Acevedo (2:19:10) and Nerea Elejabeitia (2:25:42). In the men’s category, Igor Halicki topped the podium with a time of 1:26:44, with Néstor Ojeda (1:31:52) in second place and Roberto Sánchez (1:33:18) taking third.
The TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Pico de las Nieves is organized by DG Eventos, with institutional support from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Island Institute of Sports and Turismo de Gran Canaria, as well as Turismo Islas Canarias, and with the collaboration of the municipalities of Arucas and Artenara.
