Thus, the world's best cyclist has signed with Gran Canaria through the Gran Canaria Tri Bike Run, a public-private initiative bringing together Gran Canaria Tourism and businesses in the sector. Tadej Pogačar, on his way to winning his fourth Tour de France, will train and compete on the island this autumn, helping to solidify its position as one of the world's leading cycling destinations with the Gran Canaria 365 event, a unique experience that will bring together more than twenty of the world's best cyclists, including the current world champion, from November 24th to 30th.
The Tourism Councillor of the Gran CanariaIsland Council, Carlos Álamo, together with the manager of DG Eventos, Daniel González, posed with the Slovenian cyclist, considered one of the great references of the international peloton, and who will not only participate in this experience, but has been named ambassador of the Gran Canaria 365 initiative, an ambitious commitment to position the island as a cycling paradise throughout the year.

“At Gran Canaria Tourism, we are working to make our island the best tourist destination for outdoor sports 365 days a year, and we have attracted Tadej Pogačar, the best cyclist of our time, convinced that this international exposure will bring us many cycling fans and professionals,” stated the Island Council's Tourism Councillor, who pointed out that tourists who come to the island to practice sports already represent 12% of the total. “Furthermore, it's good for the island because these tourists are more aware of sustainability and spend more locally,” added Carlos Álamo.
From November 24th to 30th, 2025, the cyclists will train at various locations across the island, taking advantage of Gran Canariaexcellent climate, high-quality infrastructure, and diverse landscapes. As a culmination, they will participate in the iconic TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Pico de Las Nieves, one of the most demanding and prestigious events on the cycling calendar.
